COURSE PRESENTATION
Percutaneous aortic implantation of TAVI is currently an alternative to conventional surgery and will be indicated in low-risk patients. However, some problems exist regarding the difficulty in vascular access, choice of prosthesis according to the valvular anatomy, and exact placement of the prosthesis in the aortic annulus, which will influence the percentage of additional definitive pacemakers and the degree of peri-valvular leak.

In the course the anatomical, material issues and technical revision will be discussed for a femoral and non-femoral accesses, such as transcavalaccess, contemporary cusp overlap implantation technique, commissural alignment and BASILICA technique.

This course provides access to the best specialists in the knowledge of TAVI implantation, considering new techniques and the discussion of valve choice, based on anatomical imaging. The knowledge and discussion of implantation will be based on imaging analysis, simulation and live cases.

With the acquired knowledge, the students will be able to reach better performance of TAVI percutaneous implantation technique, regarding to acquire better clinical results, in intermediate and low-risk patients.
TARGET AUDIENCE
Medical Doctors, Nurses, Technicians or Engineers with experience or interest in TAVI
LEARNING OBJECTIVES >> KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS TO DEVELOP
  1. To understand the indications, complications and limitations of the percutaneous TAVI procedure.
  2. To understand the femoral access anatomy and closure devices.
  3. To understand non-femoral access and the trans-cava technique for familiarization of the steps to be performed from aortic puncture to closure.
  4. To review the percutaneous contemporary cusp overlap implantation techniques according to the characteristics of the aortic annulus and the choice of valve.
  5. To implant several prostheses with commissural alignment, chosen according to the characteristics of the aortic ring.
  6. To plan a safe next day hospital discharge after a TAVI procedure.
